How to Choose a Body Contouring Machine

A buying guide for body contouring machines: cryolipolysis vs cavitation vs RF, which technology fits which client, and what to check before buying.

Understand the three technologies

Body contouring covers three main technologies. Cryolipolysis freezes localised fat bulges, ultrasonic cavitation disrupts larger soft fat areas with sound waves, and RF tightens skin. Each suits a different body type and treatment goal, and many clinics run all three.

Match the technology to the client

For a pinchable, stubborn bulge, cryolipolysis is the sharper tool. For diffuse fat, cellulite and circumference reduction, cavitation is a strong fit. For skin firmness and reshaping after fat reduction, RF completes the picture. Knowing which problem your clients most often present with tells you which machine to buy first.

Consider hands-free operation

Cryolipolysis and many cavitation protocols run hands-free, letting one therapist supervise while handling other duties. This operational leverage significantly improves the return on the machine and matters more than a small difference in purchase price.

Check safety, consumables and support

Look for temperature and contact monitoring, understand the consumables (applicators, gel, pads), and confirm spares and support are available in the UK. These are the factors that determine whether the machine is a good long-term investment.
